Evolving Cases
The Instructor and Student Guides provides an introduction to the CATCH-ON evolving cases. These cases are designed to build upon and allow for integration and application of our online modules regarding normal aging, managing multiple chronic conditions (MCC), Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), and working in interprofessional teams.
Theevolving cases can function as standalone narratives used in parts or in total, depending on the time available and learning circumstance. These cases represent a compilation of the authors’ experiences, inspired by their work with older adults and their families. They are designed to help learners see older adults as individuals rather than compilations of symptoms. They highlight multiple social determinants of health that are critical to understanding and effectively treating older adults. The cases also highlight common presentations of illnesses and syndromes that are different from presentations in younger adults. Each section of the evolving case is accompanied by discussion questions designed to target a wide variety of health professionals; individual disciplines may choose to focus more on some questions than others. All disciplines are strongly encouraged to consider how other disciplines may view the same information.
PowerPoint Presentations for Curriculum Infusion
The following PowerPoint presentations were developed to build on the online modules and evolving cases. The presentations are brief so that they can be easily infused into existing curricula. Talking points and resources are included on the notes slides to assist in teaching the key concepts.
